Deep in the Cotswolds in the Great British countryside, far down the river Thames, is a bridge called Tadpole Bridge. On the south side of the river, there is a wonderful pub called The Trout at Tadpole Bridge. It has lots of bedrooms and beautiful function spaces for all types of celebrations. Unfortunately, for their one neighbour, the main venue is a large marquis tent on the property. It doesn’t allow for much in the way of sound proofing, which lead to Noisy Neighbour accusations they couldn’t shake.
Hi-Tech were called in to see if there was anything that we might be able to do to keep music down to a certain level so that the noise did not disturb the surrounding residents.
As the noisy neighbour complaints were made to the environment agency, they arranged a meeting on site with us and the client. They made clear the complaints and a reasonable discussion was had as to what can be done.
It was agreed that a machine called a noise leveller should be installed. This would monitor noise levels in the tent. It would switch off all music equipment if the volume was over a pre-agreed threshold of 90 decibels.

To remain fair to the DJs and partygoers making all the noise and having all the fun, we also installed a traffic light system inside the marquis. That way, the noise would still be kept to a decent level, and the party would never have to stop abruptly! We hid it in some decorative vines wrapped around some of the beams keeping the tent up.
Once installed and tested for safety, with minimal disruption to the venue’s environment visually, we ran a demonstration for the environment agency. Everything went smoothly in running a volume test, and the client is awaiting feedback from their neighbours.
