This International Women’s Day, we sat down with one of the fantastic women working hard at Hi-Tech, Mia, our Service Delivery Manager for the South East and Subcontractors. As a female manager in a male dominated industry, we were interested to hear her take on life at Hi-Tech. Here’s what she had to say;
It actually all happened with a temporary contract I undertook for a drainage company. I was offered a permanent position, and in time, became their Maintenance Administration Manager for their engineering department. Several years later and due to redundancies because of the pandemic, I accepted a Coordinator role at Hi-Tech. It has now been almost 3 years at Hi-Tech, I’m the Service Delivery Manager and I’m still thoroughly enjoying this line of work!
The variation! I can be dealing with something as simple as a lock change one minute, then arranging many trades to attend an urgent flooding issue the next. Very rarely a quiet or dull moment…

You can just be yourself and actually be listened to. Your opinion counts. Such a great bunch of people to work with and many laughs can be had. Seeing such big changes at Hi-Tech in the time I have worked here and can only see things progressing in a very positive way.
Do it! What’s stopping you? Yes, construction is a very male orientated line of work, but that isn’t to say a female cannot be just as successful. My advice would be to take the time to listen and learn, once you can prove you know what you’re talking about there’s no stopping you!
